Green and Gold

I want to see myself through another’s eyes
Find out what the soft gazes actually see
See if I’m as great as I’ve always been told
Just see what you see when your eyes fall on me

“You’re the perfect guy” I’ve heard before
Though sadly I know that can’t be true
And I’ve heard it so often that I can’t resist
But try and find the what and the who

That makes them say those pleasing words
That make me blush and turn away
I want to understand what makes me like that
But still alone at the end of the day

I’m still a human, emotions and all
And I haven’t met me as they say I am
But I know I can’t be the best guy in the world
Because I am the lion as well as the lamb

As I said before I’m only human
I can only see the world in green and gold
So I can do two things with regards to me
I can accept or ignore what I have been told

But that takes me back to the very first line
And I’m stuck again; nowhere to go
So answer me please, all of my queries
So my green and gold can finally glow
