On A June Bug's Wings
One spring day I was invited
To fly on a June bug's wings
And oh the giant sights I saw
Oh what wondrous things
She took me deep into the forest
A place where no sun flew
A place where goblins infest the trees
And a place surreal where witches brew
We kept on flying through the thick
Through the air of discontent
Past foreboding gnarled trees
And to the less malignant
As we arrived the trees seemed grey
Though they did still seem to be alive
I asked why the willows were weeping so
The June bug said it was to revive
Resurrect their friends and foes
No matter which while they weep
And with their tears they sow the ground
So it's memories that they will reap
We traveled on at ferocious speeds
Towards where the brightness grew
The trees so thick but light so strong
Strong enough to just break through
Slowing down in the lazy air
Her wings were still a-hum
Shooting green fluorescence there
Ferns sagging with too much rum
We hovered down to the floor
Which was oh so mossy green
This vibrant and uplifting sight
Was much better than previously seen
Off her back I stepped so careful
Onto the petals of a delicate rose
And I looked to the left and I looked to the right
So full of light which knows no woes
For each flower in that cluster
Had a center so very white
And I looked inside only to behold
A soft round sphere glowing and bright
My grasp far reaching deep inside
I plucked the light right from the bloom
And into my pocket went that luminous sphere
Into a place where there was room
There was a rumble and I fell back
What had happened, what did provoke
Darkness ensuing and movement up
The sanguine flower now a sky blue oak
I started to climb the mighty bark
Soft on the eye and warm to the touch
My fingers sunk in, but not boring holes
The tree did not mind my clinging clutch
Halfway up I looked down
Smaller still I had become
But before once more I could ascend
Once more, again, I heard a hum
A lady bug flew down to me
Lavender wings with white spots abound
She spoke to me so seraphic
Oh what a sight, oh what a sound
She invited me like an angel
To rider back out on her
And less than a moment of thinking it took
To easily and happily simply concur
On her back I sat in awe
Her speed left a trail of myriad color
We flew back through a familiar trail
Back through what I found duller
Past the willows no longer weeping
Each live tree befriending the next
Back past the goblins and witch's brew
That whole area seemed thoroughly vexed
Out of the forest it finally seemed
But I couldn't see a light in the sky
The darkness was a very frightful discomfort but there
Was a sky blue light glowing where the flowers lye
And then I felt a pulse in my pocket
Like a butterfly breaking free its cocoon
So I threw the sphere high in the sky
Bursting, and settling, it became the moon
And over the nighttime forest presiding
The moon beamed down her light so blue
And the entire forest lit up in rainbow
To guide your adventure the whole way through
